Red Bull Ride the Palace 2012
Filip Polc triumphes in Red Bull Ride The Palace. The Slovak needed only 1 minute and 12 seconds to fly from the roof of National Palace of Culture in Sofia through the 7-floors course and land at the marble tiles around the monumental building, iconic symbol of communist era in Bulgarian history. Red Bull Ride the Palace challenged 60 riders from 6 countries to compete at unique urban DH course and attracted few thousand young people of the capital city, crowded together to witness a never-seen-before mountain bike race. Dynamic course was kicking out the run by impressing roof ramp, then sharply switching from stunning drops to speeding straights and fast turns at tiny stairways and old-fashioned escalators. Imposing architecture of the building – actually the biggest congress center of South-East Europe, was in dramatic contrast to the rebellious nature and free spirit of the mountain bike riders. No doubt, Filip Polc was the fastest rider - his winning time was almost a whole second ahead of the second positioned on podium – another Slovak, Lukas Ucen. 3rd position was claimed by Slovenian Miha Halzer. Best Bulgarian “palace rider” was Rossen Kovachev, who occupied 7th position, 23 hundredths ahead of Fin Matti Lehikoinen.Ähnliche Artikel
